In these two famous essays: "The Relations between the Ego and the Unconscious" and "On the Psychology of the Unconscious," he presented the essential core of his system. Historically, they mark the end of Jung's intimate association with Freud and sum up his attempt to integrate the psychological schools of Freud and Adler into a comprehensive framework. Review: "This book must be considered a fundamental work among Jung's writings and deserves to be read by Jungians and non-Jungians alike.

Carl Jung is a notoriously difficult writer to read. I have looked for the best entry point into his writings and found two main recommendations: "Man and his Symbols" and "Memories, Dreams, Reflections".
Parts of it are also very dense and seemingly irrelevant the part about modern art. Jung's biography is better in that regard. While it is primarily an autobiography, the author does occasionally get into some technical details of his theory and work. The reason that I believe "Two Essays on Analytical Psychology" to be the best entry point into Jung's work is the first essay. In it he provides a "run-down" of possible ways to locate a problem in a patient.
He goes from surface level medical diagnosis all the way down to the collective unconscious all the while giving examples of how the theory applies to his patients. This format is very well suited for understanding the necessity of Jung's view. It also puts the collective unconscious into perspective and defines its domain with respect to other theories very well. This is just the reason why I think this book is the best entry point. However, there are many more reasons why it is a great book.
I found myself quite frequently read a paragraph that absolutely blows me away. The amount of depth and insight is representative of what Jung is capable of. It is also noteworthy that this insight is balanced with healthy doses of explanation so that the reader is given a fair chance at understanding what the author is writing about.
The most insightful book I may have analytical c g collected essay jung psychology two vol 7 works read. If anyone understands the human condition, it is CG Jung.
Sometimes philosopher, sometimes political scientist, sometimes borderline pseudo-spiritualist. A great summary of psychology and philosophy in the early 20th century. One person found this helpful.
